Strings Instrument

Any musical instrument produces sound through the vibrations of strings. The strings may be of gut, metal, fiber, or plastic, and may be plucked, bowed, or struck. The orchestral stringed instruments include the violin, viola, cello, double bass, and harp.

Our Instructors

Qian Ming Ken Zheng

Violin, Viola

Mr. Qian Ming Ken Zheng graduated from the Chinese Film Academy in 1980. Soon after his graduation, he became the chief viola and violin player at the Guangzhou Zhujiang Film Symphony Orchestra. In 1983, he began to serve as the music editor, arranger, and composer of Guangdong Television, producing a large number of musical compositions for the production and translation of TV dramas. He also produced music documentaries, films, videos, and CDs for more than 10 famous Chinese music publishing companies. Currently, he is the President of Canada’s Ontario Cross-Cultrual Music Society. In addition to being a composer, a violin and viola teacher, he is also the conductor and music director of our Symus String Ensemble.

Nataliya Laribi

Violin, Viola

Nataliya Laribi graduated from the Odessa State Conservatoire in Ukraine with a Masters in Fine Arts.

Ho Yin Michael Wong

Cello; B.Mus

Michael Wong got his Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from the  Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and is studying for the master's degree at U of T. Michael has years of experiences in teaching schools, ensembles and students from all ages and also playing with various orchestras and ensembles. Recently, Michael has joined the Ontario Philharmonic in Oshawa as a substitute cellist and Music4Life strings orchestra in Ajax as a substitute leading.

Granit Kamberi

Cello

Granit Kamberi graduated with a music degree as a Cellist from the University of Art Tirana, Albania and Athens, Greece. He then joined the Symphony Orchestra of Albanian Radio/Television network as the principal cellist. He has been the co-principal cellist of Hamilton Symphony Orchestra, Canada. He also appeared on the stage as a solo and ensemble cellist. Since 1974 till present he has been teaching cello in Music schools, music colleges, and universities.
